We heard some glorious singing last month from the Federation of Old Cornwall Societies! The Federation were holding their Summer Festival in Liskeard and we were honoured to be invited to entertain them with our Cornish songs and tunes.
It was a delight to play for so many people who are passionate about Cornwall and it’s history, working to keep Of the stories and traditions that make Cornwall special and drawing out new stories through their research into local history. Our set included a mix of well-known Cornish folk songs and tunes with some newer material from the Cornish tradition as well as our own songs and tunes. It was good to see the smiles as people recognised our music – and we love it when people join in! We enjoyed telling the story of our Cornish language song Estren Dyworth an Mor (Stranger from the Sea) to an audience which includes some Cornish speakers.
Here we are in front of the impressive array of banners from the Old Cornwall Societies represented at the festival.
