Kan rag Kernow 2015

2015-01-30 Kan rag Kernow (2)We’re delighted that our song has been selected for the Kan rag Kernow competition to find a song to represent Cornwall at the Pan Celtic Festival in Ireland later this year.

Our song, Estren dyworth an Mor (Stranger from the Sea), was written in collaboration with Pol Hodge from MAGA, the Cornish Language Partnership. It tells a spine-chilling ghost story based on a traditional tale – we can’t tell you any more about it at the moment though! Each song in the competition has been newly written in the Cornish language.  Similar competitions take place in Wales, Brittany, Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man to find entries from each of those countries as well.

The line up for the Kan Rag Kernow competition is: The Changing Room, Jo Tagney and Liz Davis,The Grenaways, Mike O’Connor and Barbara Griggs, Goslowes, Salt and Sky, and Leanna Stacey. Additional entertainment will be performed by Kezia. The competition will take place on the 30th January at Penventon Hotel, Redruth. The first 50 tickets are available from Eventbrite for £6, after that the price rises to £8. Children under 14 accompanied by a paying adult get in for free.

We’d love to see you there on the day – tickets are available here: http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/kan-rag-kernow-tickets-15179817242
